Hollersbach - the herb village in Oberpinzgau
Hollersbach - the herb village in Oberpinzgau
The village of Hollersbach in the Salzach Valley owes its name to the elderberry bushes at the end of the valley. Now lovingly described as a village of herbs, art and culture, Hollersbach im Pinzgau was first mentioned in documents in the 12th century.
Many of the buildings in the village centre can look back on this long history - above all the Klausnerhaus. Originally built as a farmhouse, the listed building now hosts events such as weddings, seminars and cooking courses. Right behind the Klausnerhaus is the Hollersbach Herb Garden. Guided tours are offered here regularly and the small shop with teas, soaps and herbal salts also solves the usual souvenir dilemma. For even more educational input, there is the associated bee trail at Hollersbacher Sonnberg.
Tips: The Hollersbach bathing lake invites you to relax. In the herb garden in the centre, behind the Klausnerhaus, around 500 different plants are waiting to be explored in a beautiful area. Guided tours are also offered during the summer months. The Scharlern farm shop with its two cheese cellars and its own cheese dairy offers regional delicacies.

Mittersill - the National Park Capital
Mittersill - the National Park Capital
Mittersill has always been able to score with its central location directly on the Salzach, between Pass Thurn and Felbertauern. As a result, the former municipality has developed into the economic and school centre of Oberpinzgau.
Today, visitors to the National Park Centre often have the opportunity to get to know the Hohe Tauern National Park from a completely new perspective and to understand the connections between humans, animals and nature. For culture enthusiasts, there are also three churches worth seeing as well as the local history museum in the Felberturm, which, among other things, takes a closer look at the history of the mule trade. In addition, the town, which has lost none of its small-town cosiness, invites visitors to linger and enjoy itself with its various shops and many restaurants and cafés.
Tips: Not only the National Park Centre next to the Zietreich, but also the Felberturm Museum is worth a visit. The open-air swimming pool near the sports field offers cooling on hot days. Fish specialities from our own waters and freshly tapped beer from our own brewery are available at Hotel Bräurup.

Stuhlfelden - the first archery village in Europe
Stuhlfelden - the first archery village in Europe
Stuhlfelden is situated at the foot of Gaisstein (2,363 m), the highest peak in the Pinzgauer Grasberge. The fact that the summit cross actually stands in Tyrol is something we simply refer to as a not very well-kept secret.
Stuhlfelden has been captivating archers from around the world for many years. Adding variety to summer activities is the Nationalpark Hohe Tauern Golf Course, where precision is just as crucial as it is in archery. Instead of forests and trees in sight, you play with breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.
Stuhlfelden is not only known for archery but also for its pilgrimage church, Maria am Stein, located in the town center. For a refreshing escape on hot days, the local outdoor swimming pool is a great option.
Tips: Visit the pilgrimage church of Maria Assumption (Maria am Stein) in the town center. Experience Alpine cuisine at its finest at the Rauchkuchl, hosted by Tobias Bacher.

Bergsteigerdorf® Hüttschlag in the Grossarltal
Bergsteigerdorf® Hüttschlag in the Grossarltal
Hüttschlag has been part of the Hohe Tauern National Park since 1991 and has been part of the select circle of Austrian Bergsteigerdörfer® since 2008.
Built diagonally against the slope, the idyllic mountain village lies as if ducking in front of the imposing rock face on the opposite side of the valley. This 150-metre-high wall of black and green slate seems impassable, and yet three spectacular via ferrata routes have been crossing it for several years.
Hüttschlag is one of the two communities in the roughly thirty-kilometre-long Grossarl Valley ("Grossarltal"), which is also affectionately called the "Valley of the Alms" thanks to its many managed alpine huts.
Eight kilometres out of the valley lies the main town of Grossarl with its mountain railways and numerous leisure facilities. Hüttschlag is also known for its picturesque valley head. Here, where the world seems to end, the adventure really begins: Magnificent nature, thundering waterfalls, tranquil mountain lakes, alpine meadows covered in flowers and peaks as far as the eye can see.
