That and much more is Advent in the Holiday Region National Park Hohe Tauern. We have put together some Advent highlights for you.
Salzburger mountain advent in the Großarltal
The Grossarltal is atmospheric and authentic in the run-up to Christmas. Highlights are the elaborately handcrafted nativity scene trail and the extensive family programme. Like hardly any other Advent market, the Salzburg Mountain Advent in the Grossarl Valley emphasises authenticity and tradition.
On regional products and a balanced mix of crafts and food. Singers and musicians perform old Christmas carols to the accompaniment of the steady crackling of the fire, which is only interrupted now and then by the ringing of bells from passing horse-drawn carriages.
The Salzburg Mountain Advent is open from November 20 to December 20, 2026, every Friday to Sunday, as well as on December 7 and 8, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Mittersill National Park Advent Market
Enjoy the unique flair of the pre-Christmas season at the Mittersill National Park Advent Market: local choirs and brass ensembles spread a feeling of Christmas with their sounds and stallholders offer handmade gift ideas of all kinds.
In addition, there are regional culinary delicacies that can be tasted to your heart's content. A special feature is the living craft workshop, where craftsmen and artists from the region provide an insight into their traditional work and show how the various products take shape in their hands.
The Advent market is open from November 20 to December 20, 2026, every Friday (4:00 PM to 9:00 PM), Saturday (2:00 PM to 9:00 PM), and Sunday (2:00 PM to 7:00 PM).

Atmosphere at Neukirchner Advent
The Neukirchen Advent (December 12-13, 2026) is dedicated to the traditions of the Pinzgau region and traditional craftsmanship. The beautifully decorated stalls offer regional and handmade products, from Advent wreaths to wooden toys and ceramics. Don't miss the Christmas readings and a visit to the small petting zoo with donkeys and goats. An unforgettable experience during the Neukirchen pre-Christmas season is a horse-drawn carriage ride with robust Noriker horses. At the Advent reading organised by the cultural group “Schreib’s auf” (12 December 2026) at the Tauriska Kammerlanderstall, visitors can immerse themselves in the peaceful atmosphere of the season.
"Advent a de Berg" in Bramberg
Bramberg celebrates a "somewhat different" Advent with glass art and Christmas cribs. The "Advent a de Berg" (December 5-6, 2026) at the Bramberg Village Pavilion attracts true folk music fans. The famous Meissnitzer Band and the Tauernecho provide a Christmas atmosphere with typical Pinzgauer delicacies. Visitors can also enjoy a "cozy-warm" experience in the Salzburg Wool Barn, where they can learn about incense rituals and how Pinzgauer mountain sheep wool is knitted and felted.During the Advent walk (5 December 2026) along the Lantern Trail, storyteller Iris Unterhofer – also known as ‘Schermtax’ – will enchant young and old alike with her tales.
Rauris Christmas markets
The Rauris Christmas markets present festive delights, aromatic creations, handmade crafts, and local delicacies from regional exhibitors. Visitors can look forward to program highlights such as wood Carriage rides, the traditional "Anklöckler" event on December 16th, and much more.
