Winter in the National Park Region
Your holiday in untouched nature
Large and small animal tracks in the Holiday Region National Park Hohe Tauern show that nature does not rest completely in winter - the perfect time for fresh air lovers to experience and explore the beauty of the Hohe Tauern National Park and the habitat of red deer, snow hare & Co. in many ways.
Those who want to experience the wildlife almost up close in winter should join a wild animal feeding. National Park hunters lead the way to a secluded feeding spot in the Habachtal valley, where both roe deer and red deer - including capital stags - are fed hay. After a short, quiet hike, an observation hut awaits, from where you have the best view of the majestic animals.
And ski tourers also get their money's worth in the Hohe Tauern National Park: the tranquillity of the mountains invites you to relax in the fresh air and listen to the sounds of nature. Meanwhile, you climb alpine terrain and are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views as well as a beautiful descent through firn or deep snow.
