In summer, the Holiday Region National Park Hohe Tauern offers an unforgettable landscape characterised by high mountains and crystal-clear lakes. Hiking trails lead through the beautiful valleys and peaks of the National Park, offering you breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.  You have the opportunity to enjoy numerous outdoor activities, such as hiking, cycling, climbing or white water rafting. The famous Großglockner, the highest mountain in Austria, the Krimml Waterfalls or the many summer mountain railways offer unforgettable experiences.

Trip tips & hot spots

A colourful bouquet of tips from the entire Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region awaits you in our SummerExperienceMap. The best thing about it: You can see at a glance which attractions are open for you today. From the Krimml Waterfalls to the outdoor swimming pool in Rauris, all 18 National Park communities are represented with tips. All National Park educational trails and National Park exhibitions are also included.

Nationalpark SommerCard

With the National Park SummerCard you have the opportunity to make particularly intensive use of the diverse offers in the region from 1 May to 31 October. As a guest at one of the participating partner businesses, you will receive the SommerCard from your host, which allows you to visit and use one of 60 different attractions such as sights, museums and natural spectacles, leisure and sports facilities and mountain railways every day. The card also offers you maximum mobility as it entitles you to use local public transport. A special highlight is the one-day admission to the Großglockner High Alpine Road Adventure World and a one-day ticket for the Gerlos Alpine Road, which are already included in the price.

Your winter holiday

Winter transforms the snow-covered landscapehas the Holiday Region National Park Hohe Tauern into a winter wonderland offering numerous winter sports opportunities. You can ski, snowboard, cross-country ski or snowshoe while enjoying the impressive natural scenery. Also visit one of the eight ski areas with spectacular views of the surrounding glaciers.

Eight ski paradises

The eight ski areas in the Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region stretch from the Grossarl, Gasteiner and Rauris valleys in the east to the glacier ski area on the Kitzsteinhorn, the Weißsee Glacier World to the Panorama lift in Hollersbach, the Wildkogel Arena and the Zillertal Arena in the west.

Nationalpark WinterCard

The bonus card, which is available 1 November to 30 April at participating partner businesses in the Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region, offers many advantages at numerous attractions in the region. A colourful variety of favourite places enables a personal, winter journey of discovery in the Hohe Tauern National Park.
