Cross-country skiing

With more than 200 kilometres, the Pinzga cross-country ski trail makes for unlimited cross-country enjoyment

Thereby it's possible to explore the individual townships along the Salzach valley on cross-country or skating skis and then return on the Pinzgau local train (between Zell am See and Krimml) to where you started.

The ADAC (General German Automobile Association) awarded the cross-country trail association five stars (out of five) for its excellent network of cross-country ski trails. Should there be a shortage of snow in the valley for once, high altitude trails such as the hill moor trail in Mittersill (22 km), the high altitude trail in Hochkrimml (12 km) or the sunshine trail in Sportgastein (8 km) provide viable alternatives. Wonderful views of the mighty 3,000-metre peaks of the Hohe Tauern National Park are guaranteed.

The trend towards alternative activities close to nature in winter fits perfectly with a region such as the Hohe Tauern National Park Holiday Region. But as the trend in winter tourism is unstoppably going from mere alpine skiing to a wider range of winter sports activities in unspoiled nature, the Hohe Tauern National Park Holiday Region decided to develop the infrastructure for cross-country skiers and skaters.
Since then, more than 200 km of cross-country ski trails make every cross-country skier's and skater's heart leap for joy.
