Flora of the National Park

The Hohe Tauern National Park impresses with its extraordinary diversity of vegetation. The edelweiss is likely the best-known alpine flower and is used as an emblem for numerous mountaineering associations, such as the Austrian Alpine Association. As a result of its popularity, it greatly diminished due to picking and lifting. Today, the edelweiss is protected.
