Lodges & huts

120 alpine huts, reachable in just a short time of walking, beckon to enter a world of breathtaking scenery, majestic peaks, idyllic lakes and culinary treats.

The alpine pasture is an age-old cultural sphere, which has lost nothing in fascination to this day. While the cows and horses revel in the fresh summer air up here, it's all about the complete bundle of joy for hikers: Far away from the everyday hustle and bustle, all your worries seem to dissipate in the face of the splendid alpine panoramas and fragrant Pinzgau cheese dumplings. Nowhere is the alpine summer celebrated as earthy and traditionally as in and around the Hohe Tauern National Park. The alpine herdsmen and dairymen, who are often farming the same pastures since many generations, keep the spirit of the ancestors alive. Most work is done by hand: Everyday life is hard and also simple at the same time. Visitors and hikers, who are always welcome guests up here, get to sense this.

By and large, most huts are serviced from mid-June to end-September. If you want to know the precise opening hours for a specific hut or lodge in the Hohe Tauern National Park Holiday Region, please contact us.
