Krimml worlds of water

Water and nothing but water..! The new Worlds of Water are located in close vicinity to the largest waterfalls in Europe.

Next to the Grossglockner High Alpine Road is another monumental sight in the Hohe Tauern National Park. The Krimml Waterfalls. They are the highest waterfalls in Europe. And measuring 380 meters in height and with three levels, they even rank fifth among the highest waterfalls in the world. The four kilometre long waterfall can be explored by hiking for around an hour and a half. The starting point of such hike are the modern Worlds of Water. This innovative exhibition area is a combination of edutainment, sensory experiences and active participation. The grandiose panoramic terrace in the WasserBar reveals spectacular views of the waterfalls. The exhibition area is dedicated to infotainment with exciting experiments and a new WaterCinema. In the outdoor area, visitors can get active themselves: Fun games make for plenty of enjoyment with the wet element.

A journey in the waterfall

The centrepiece of the Worlds of Water is the modern waterfall centre: The Aquaszenarium is a projection show, the only one of its kind in Austria, and a cracker for young and old alike. The floor and walls are covered with projections, which can be manipulated and changed by touch or by stepping onto them. With this multimedia setup, visitors can playfully immerse themselves into the four water worlds: Beginning with the water meadow landscape at the upper falls of the river, where you can play interactively with projected butterflies, grasses and fish. You then continue to a tier of water, where visitors seemingly stand in the middle of a waterfall and can reach through the waterfall in order to grasp at perceived treasures. The third theme is the underwater world, in which visitors go through an optical shrinking process down to the size of microbes. In the fourth theme world, you rapidly rise to the surface again and back to the start of your journey.
