Ferienregion Nationalpark Hohe Tauern

Rocks and minerals

(recommended from 4th grade)
Today's highlands of the Hohe Tauern are the result of millions of years of continuous geological processes. Endogenous forces and exogenous processes created craggy peaks, steep cliffs and deep rifts.
By looking at the diverse layers of rock deposits, national park rangers explain how the Alps were formed and how we can look back into geologic history through the "Tauern window".
