Hohe Tauern Bike Trail
14 National Park valleys – your destination
The Hohe Tauern National Park – a mountain landscape of superlatives, with wild beauty, unspoilt countryside and moving stories. Long a favourite with nature lovers, the Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region in SalzburgerLand now also appeals to mountain-biking enthusiasts with the Hohe Tauern Bike Trail. A mountain-bike stage route like no other, leading through 14 National Park valleys!
What makes the Hohe Tauern National Park in Salzburg so distinctive are its pristine mountain valleys, stretching from the lush green valley floors of the Salzach, along roaring glacial streams, and up into the high alpine world of glaciated three-thousand-metre peaks. Accessible via alpine paths and forest roads closed to private traffic, they provide an ideal way to explore the National Park’s dramatic landscape by mountain bike. With predominantly moderate gradients, the Bike Trail is suitable for both e-mountain bikers seeking a more relaxed ride and more ambitious gravel and mountain bikers.
The Hohe Tauern Bike Trail begins in the far east of the National Park, in the Großarltal Valley, runs across the entire park region and finishes at its western edge, near the Krimml Waterfalls. Along the way, riders cover 530 kilometres and climb 12,000 metres of ascent, accompanied by wild mountain waters and far-reaching views of the snow-capped peaks of the Hohe Tauern – from the Hoher Sonnblick to the Großglockner, the Kitzsteinhorn and the Großvenediger.
Curious? Then you've come to the right place!
