Thru Biking: 14 national park valleys – your journey!

The place to arrive on the Hohe Tauern Bike Trail

“Thru biking” – what does it mean?
It’s actually quite simple: in the United States, the term is used to describe a cycling journey where an entire trail – no matter how long – is completed in one continuous ride, from start to finish. Now, it doesn’t have to be the “Race Across America”, but thru biking on the new Hohe Tauern Bike Trail in the Hohe Tauern National Park is a fascinating challenge in its own right.

Between the start in Hüttschlag and the finish at the Krimml Waterfalls, riders face 14 untouched national park valleys, 535 unforgettable kilometres and an impressive 12,000 metres of elevation gain. In a way, it is Austria’s new “Mount Everest” for mountain bikers – yet thanks to its moderate route layout, well-planned stages and, of course, the option of permitted e-bike support, it is also achievable for pleasure-oriented mountain bikers.

Anyone who successfully completes the thru biking challenge on the Hohe Tauern Bike Trail is not only a winner over themselves, but will also be appropriately rewarded by the holiday region.

The Hohe Tauern Bike Trail truly has the potential to become one of the great alpine mountain bike routes. With all its special features, it appeals to almost every type of cyclist – from performance-focused riders to those who prefer to take their time and savour the natural beauty along the way. So what are you waiting for? Simply get in touch with the official Hohe Tauern Bike Trail information and booking centre. After all, a thru biking adventure should be carefully planned, and the experienced team of Trail Angels will be happy to support you every step of the way.
