National Park Hohe Tauern also promises ski tourers quite a treat: The tranquility of the mountains invites you to relax in the crisp, clear air and listen to the murmurs of nature. Along the way, you will ascend through alpine terrain and ultimately be rewarded by breathtaking panoramic views as well as a beautiful downhill run through névé or deep snow.

• Classic routes in the Hohe Tauern National Park Holiday Region are on the Hohe Sonnblick (3,106 m), on the Großvenediger (3,657 m) or on the Kloben (2,938 m). The last mentioned can be reached from the end of April via the Grossglockner High Alpine Road and promises a gigantic long descent into the Käfertal.
• The Weißsee Gletscherwelt was voted the best ski touring area in Austria. The starting point of the routes is the Enzingerboden (1,480m) at the cable car station of the Weißsee Gletscherbahn in Uttendorf. There the ski touring area of the Granatspitzgruppe opens up - surrounded by a magnificent high alpine panorama with 22 prominent peaks, 12 of which are over 3,000 meters. Short ascents and kilometer-long descents in untouched terrain make the heart of every ski tourer beat faster.
• At Gastein, ski touring camps are offered for returning and newcomers, but also for seasoned mountain sports enthusiasts. In addition to proper preparation, tour planning and navigation in the terrain, great emphasis is placed on avalanche awareness and emergency measures. Only those who recognize dangers can avoid them. State-certified mountain and ski guides from the region ensure the quality of the training courses.
• The Grossarl Valley is home to huge alpine huts and countless peaks. These range from just under 2,000 m to 2,884 m. The most famous ski mountain in the valley is probably the Kreuzkogel.
