Hohe Tauern Health

Incredible effect of the Krimml Waterfalls

The Paracelsus Private Medical University of Salzburg under the direction of Univ.-Lect. Dr.AnulfHartl has examined the effect of the Krimml waterfalls and arrived at a positive result. The mist of emanating from the waterfalls has a cleansing effect on the lungs, making for a lasting improvement in the respiratory tract.
The Krimml waterfalls stand out with their 380 metre drop, the highest in Europe.

Already 200 years ago, the water there was said to have a healing effect. Dr. Paul Oberlechner, a physician from Zell am See, recommended his patients to spend time close to the waterfalls in order to find relief or even healing for their asthma symptoms as early as in 1806.

The Hohe Tauern National Park Holiday Region with its project "Hohe Tauern Health" meets the current trend of health tourism and can position itself in the health care market in addition to being a wellness and well-being destination. The healthy environment of the Hohe Tauern can thus also be used for health tourism purposes.
