Eagle Flight Panorama

Discover the Hohe Tauern through the eyes of the eagle

24 breathtaking film flights take you into the valleys and to the highlights of the largest national park in the Alps.
The backdrop is provided by huge models of the summits of the Großglockner and Großvenediger hovering in space.

More than 40 pairs of eagles are currently breeding in the Hohe Tauern National Park - a considerable number, as the golden eagle needs an average of about 50 km² of undisturbed nesting sites and sufficient prey per pair throughout the year. The different nests that each pair of eagles has are used alternately and are almost always located on rock faces at an altitude of between 1,400 and 2,000 metres.

Journey to the Arctic
At this station, you move step by step towards the Arctic, or rather to the highest peaks of the National Park. This so-called "Journey to the Arctic" is another special feature in the Alpine region. Here, climatic zones, vegetation stages and associated plants and animals can be compared with a journey of several thousand kilometres towards the North Pole in a very small vertical space.

The starting point for the trips is Mittersill. From here it is more than 1,000 kilometres to the Scandinavian region, i.e. Finland, Sweden and Norway, and thus to the taiga region of the cold winter climate. Vertically, it only takes an hour - e.g. on a hike towards Pihapper or into the Felbertal.
