Extending out for 200 uninterrupted kilometres, the Pinzga Trail serves up boundless cross-country skiing enjoyment. With your cross-country skis or skaters on, it’s also possible to explore the various small towns scattered throughout the Salzach Valley.
Then, when you’re done, the Pinzgau Railway provides convenient transportation (between Zell-am-See and Krimml) back to where you set out.
By the way: last year, this excellent trail network was awarded five stars (the highest rating) by the German Automobile Club. Should the valley snows ever get a little scarce, such high trails as the High Moors Trail in Mittersill (23 km), the High Trail in Hochkrimml (12 km), the Höhenloipe Hochbühel in Rauris and the Sun Trail in Sportgastein (8 km) are always available. As you make your way, you’ll be greeted by enchanting views out over the mighty 9,500-foot peaks of the Hohe Tauern National Park – guaranteed!
